How to Claim a Lottery Prize in Quebec (Loto-Québec)

Quebec lottery prizes are paid by Loto-Québec. The province's claim process mirrors other Canadian operators with one important quirk: Loto-Québec's standard practice gives more flexibility around public announcements than OLG or BCLC.

Before you go anywhere

Sign the back of the ticket. Photograph both sides. Validate the result on the Loto-Québec app or at any retailer terminal.

Up to $600 — at any retailer

Quebec retailers pay validated prizes up to $600 in cash. Bring the signed ticket to any Loto-Québec terminal location.

$600 to $24,999 — Loto-Québec service centre

Mid-range prizes can be claimed at one of Loto-Québec's regional service centres or by mail. The largest is in Montréal, with smaller centres in Québec City, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, and Gatineau. Bring signed ticket, photo ID, and completed claim form.

$25,000 and above — Montréal head office

Major prizes are claimed in person at Loto-Québec's head office in Montréal. The process is appointment-based and includes verification, security checks, and an optional financial-planning briefing.

  • Two pieces of government-issued photo ID.
  • The signed, original ticket.
  • Identity verification interview (in French or English).
  • Consent discussion for any public announcement.

Public announcement (more flexible than other provinces)

Loto-Québec's policy gives winners more leeway on public disclosure than other Canadian operators. While the corporation may request a press appearance for promotional purposes, declining is generally permitted for a wider range of reasons. Discuss this at your appointment.

Deadline: 52 weeks

Loto-Québec draw-game prizes — Lotto Max, 6/49, Daily Grand, Québec 49, Extra, Banco — must be claimed within one year of the draw date. Instant ticket expiry dates are printed on the ticket itself.

Loto-Québec head office

500 Sherbrooke Street West, Montréal, QC H3A 3G6. Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Phone: 1-866-628-5790.

Yes. Loto-Québec's website, claim forms, and service centres operate fully bilingually. Major-prize verification interviews can be conducted in either French or English at your preference.
How does Loto-Québec's publicity policy compare with other provinces?
It's more flexible. Loto-Québec is generally more receptive to declining a public announcement than OLG or BCLC, though promotional appearances are still requested for major wins.
How long do I have to claim a Loto-Québec prize?
52 weeks (one year) from the draw date for draw games. Instant-win deadlines are printed on the ticket.
Where is the Loto-Québec head office?
500 Sherbrooke Street West, Montréal. Major prizes ($25,000+) are claimed there by appointment.
Can I claim a Quebec ticket if I live elsewhere?
Yes. The ticket must have been purchased in Quebec, but the winner does not have to live in Quebec.
